2017 VOTD_07 - Covenants: Highway To Exemption 2

2017 Voice of The Day 07                                                                              Covenants: Highway To Exemption 2                                                                      Genesis 12:1-2  

Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: KJV

Due to the almost unbreakable nature of Covenants, the demands of Covenants are usually tougher than the demands of Promises.
In the first four verses of Genesis chapter twelve, God called out Abram to relocate to a place He would show him. This was a tough challenge. It was however not an impossible task for some reasons:

• There was the promise of a new land. This means he was not walking into nothingness. There was an assurance of a future
• There was the promise that he would be made a great nation. This promise indicate that at the time of his call, Abram was not great. There was therefore a compelling proposition in this promise to a man who ordinarily could have lived and died unknown, unseen and unheard
• There was an assurance that he would be blessed. This indicates that whatever blessing Abram may have had before now were not consequential or significant. The future painted for him looked rosy 
• There was an assurance that he would be defended. Humanity worries about security especially when you become a person of means. However, this assurance from God was most satisfying. Not only would Abram be blessed, God is committed to defending him and the blessing

You could therefore see that even though it was traumatic to leave family and familiar environments with the warmth, love and security attached to them, breaking out to become a factor for families of the earth to be blessed was a compelling proposition.
The Bible said Abram departed as instructed. May you be urgent to obey God as He chooses to direct you this year even when it doesn't make sense to your little brain.

The demands of a Promise are tough but not impossible! We will juxtapose these with the demands of a Covenant tomorrow so we can come to full understanding of God's agenda for us in 2017.

PRAYERS: Father I receive the grace to say Yes to your demands on me so your promises can be fulfilled in my life. I renounce every sense of disobedience and I declare that they shall not derail God's plan for my life in 2017 in JESUS name.
